I compiled a 32 bit SVN development build of PCSX2 (playstation 2 emulator)  for Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10. The bad part is I have a 64 bit system and can’t test it  :(  Here it is if anyone wants to play with it. Internally it says build  0.9.7.r0 but its the latest source from 09.04.2010.

I compiled a 64 bit binary of the mednafen multi system emulator. It’d the 0.8.D.2 version for Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit. Neatly packaged up in a deb file for easy install and unstall. I am a huge fan of game console emulators, so when I found this great Ubuntu PPA I was pleased as punch. It has a nice selection of emulators and they seem properly packaged. Included in this PPA are:

• Bsnes – the most accurate SNES emulator there is. Regular and SSE2 build.
• Dolphin Emu – Nintendo Gamecube and Wii emulator. It’s simply awesome.
• PCSX – Sony Playstation emulator – both DF and Reloaded flavors.

In addition to emulators he also provides a few other apps and libraries needed for the above emulators. All in all its was a great find and I was pleased.

To add this repository to your Ubuntu Software Center open a terminal and type this in

• sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hunter-kaller/ppa
• sudo apt-get update

I’m skipping ahead to Ubuntu 10.10 to update my arcade script. Currently I’m diligently working on my *NEW* arcade script/application for setting up Ubuntu 10.10 as a killer arcade front-end. As of right now I’m using zenity for the GUI, so no more terminal commands It’s in heavy testing right now and should be ready on the day Ubuntu 10.10 is launched. Expect a full guide, also.

I recently finished the updated version of my legendary Ubuntu Linux Arcade Cabinet Guide. This time around I switched from vanilla Ubuntu to XUbuntu for a snappier system. Other enhancements incluse a step by step pictorial guide and simplified terminal commands.
