Dungeons & Dragons Online Unlimited – Closed Beta

by jeremy on Jun.18, 2009, under blip blip

avatar_coin_100For the past couple of days I’ve been playing the beta of D&D Online Unlimited. It’s the new free version of DDO that should be out later this summer (probably just in time for back to school). From what I’ve played so far it’s pretty fun with lots of quests, regular gear upgrades and plenty of dungeons. One of the few down sides I’ve noticed so far is the lack of variety in monsters around the starting area. Not really a big deal (it is the starting area, after all), but it’s nice to kill a variety of beasts. The game’s engine seems fairly stable (is should be for it’s age), I haven’t noticed any crashes or strange behavior yet. The lighting effects are OK but nothing to write home about and overall the graphics aren’t quite as good as WoW but they are pretty fair.

The real appeal (at least to me) is the D&D universe and it’s lore. The fact it’s a playable video game is an added bonus.

Good Night, Sweet Prince

by jeremy on Jun.17, 2009, under garage sale

SnowSometime soon my buddy, Tim, will be stopping by the dude ranch to take this beautiful late model iMac G3 off my hands. He will be using it to code iPhone apps. A noble venture, I’m sure.

This is been a grand computer, faithfully chugging along on adobe photoshop and adobe illustrator. I cannot count how many copyright infringements have been committed at the hands of this beauty. Sugar and spice all in one package. Oh how thee will be missed.

I hate to see it go , but I know it’s going into good hands. Fare thee well.

Phantasy Star Zero DS

by jeremy on Jun.16, 2009, under blip blip

Phantasy Star ZeroOK, so here’s the deal. My buddy, Mike, and I were talking about a list of Nintendo DS games that have never been made. The subject of SEGA’s Phantasy Star Online came up. I stated that I’d be all about DS version of PSO that had internet multiplayer. Mike, being the “in the know” kind of guy he is, said there is one which came out in Japan around December of 2008. I was like “bullshit”. Of course he was able to back up his claim and I was a happy boy. The Japanese release is called Phantasy Star 0 (ファンタジースターZERO). PSZ should be available in the USA and Europe in the fall of 2009. I am excited since I LOVED PSO on SEGA’s Dreamcast.
